El examen de Aptis para profesores permite certificar hasta un nivel B2/C de inglés. Está claro que el lenguaje cotidiano no es el mismo que utilizas en el ámbito laboral; este es el motivo porque British Council diseño esta prueba para certificar el nivel de inglés de los docentes.

El examen tiene la misma estructura que el Aptis General, pero el vocabulario y las situaciones comunicativas que se presentan están relacionados con el ámbito educativo.

Es importante mencionar que este certificado no es válido en todas las comunidades autónomas, ya que en algunas; por ejemplo Madrid; solicitan un nivel más alto de dominio del idioma (C1). Por lo tanto, antes de decidirte por un certificado u otro asegúrate que te sirve para obtener la habilitación lingüística y/o subir puntos en las oposiciones.

Partes del examen de Aptis para profesores

La prueba consta de 5 partes o exámenes: grammar and vocabulary, speaking, reading, writing y listening. Cada parte del examen vale 50 puntos. La parte de gramática y vocabulario puede influir en que te pongan una nota más alta; es decir sirve para el desempate de las otras cuatro pruebas.

Gramática y vocabulario

Prueba sobre el dominio gramatical y los conocimientos de vocabulario relacionado con el ámbito educativo. El examen está compuesto de 25 preguntas tipo test de gramática y 4 ejercicios sobre vocabulario que conforman un total de 25 preguntas. Es similar a la parte de Grammar and Vocabulary del Aptis General, pero con vocabulario relacionado con el mundo educativo.

Speaking

Este examen consta de 4 ejercicios o tareas. Veamos un ejemplo:

1. Answer the question. (dispones de 30 segundos por pregunta):

• What subject do you prefer? Why?
• Why do you think it is important to learn English?
• Why did you decide to become a teacher?

2. Describe the picture and answer these questions: (45 segundos por pregunta)

3. Compare these pictures and answer the questions (45 segundos por pregunta).

4. Answer these questions (2 minutos por cada pregunta y un minuto para prepararse).

Writing – Aptis for teachers

El examen está compuesto por 4 preguntas. Veamos un ejemplo.

1. Answer these questions by using just 5 words per questions.

• What’s your favourite film?
• Do you have any pets?
• Where do you work/study?
• What do you do in your free time?
• Have you ever traveled abroad?

2. You have joined a club meet teachers of other countries. Introduce yourself. Use 20-30 words. You have 7 minutes in total.

3. Now you are talking to some other members in the teachers’ club chat room. Talk to them using sentences. Use 30 to 40 words. You have 10 minutes in total.

Teachers’ club chat:

Emma: Hello! Welcome to the club! Tell us what you teach. How old are your students?. (30-40 words)

Liam: It is very interesting. What resources and methods do you use with your students?.  (30-40 words)

Henry: Do you have any student with learning difficulties? (30-40 words)

4. You are a member from the teachers’ club. You received this email from the club.

Dear member,

We would like to know how it helps the integration of students with learning difficulties (the different techniques and methodology, types of activities, etc.). Also tell us about the relationship with families.

Regards,

The Club

• Write an email to a friend telling him/her about the message you received from the club. Tell him/her what you think about it. Write about 50 words. You have 10 minutes. Use friendly, informal English here, but use standard spelling and punctuation.
• Write and email to the club providing them with the information required. Write about 120-150 words. You have 20 minutes. Use formal English here. Remember to open and close your letter appropriately.

Reading and listening
